When I was first learning photography, some of my favorite how-to books were by Bryan Peterson. His books were easy for a newbie like me to read and there were always plenty of pictures to explain the concepts.
Even though most of Bryan’s books were originally written in the age of film photography, they are still very much relevant in today’s digital age.
That said, you can understand why I was so excited to stumble across the video below. In it, Bryan teaches about the basics of photographic composition. With example after example, he shows what works and what doesn’t and, in that, illustrates the fundamentals of the perfect picture.
The video is pretty long—it runs for over an hour—but it’s worth every minute, especially if you are new to photography and you are looking to improve your skills and your photographs.
The bottom line is that Bryan is a great teacher and his enthusiasm for photography is infectious. This video is a gem. I think you’ll enjoy it.
