Nikon has just released four new additions to their COOLPIX Camera line. Two of these additions are bridge style superzooms—DSLR-sized point and shoots that sport super long zoom lenses—and the other two are ultra thin compact cameras with some updated features.
The new COOLPIX P600 is a bridge style camera that features a 60x optical zoom. This means that you can move from a wide angle 24mm to a telephoto 1440mm or anywhere in between, with the twist of the lens barrel. That’s very handy.
The P600 also features a 16.1 megapixel CMOS sensor, full manual controls (P, S, A, M), an electronic viewfinder, a high resolution 3-inch variable angle LCD, built-in optical stabilization, Wi-Fi and video with full HD 1080/60i capability. The battery life is also touted to be impressive, allowing you to snap about 330 shots with a single charge.
The new COOLPIX P530 is another bridge-type camera and an update to the earlier COOLPIX P520.
Although the COOLPIX P530 has a shorter zoom than the P600—a 42x lens, allowing for a 24-1000mm zoom range—the two cameras are alike in terms of many other features. So, like the P600, the P530 is built around a 16.1 MP CMOS sensor. It also features an electronic viewfinder, a high resolution 921k dot vari-angle 3-inch LCD, optical vibration reduction, built-in Wi-Fi and video capabilities with full HD 1080 and stereo.
The P530 also has some advanced features that allow you to take control of your images. These advanced features include a full selection of shooting modes (P, S, A, M) as well as a variety of autofocus settings.
The new COOLPIX S9700 is an ultra slim compact camera (As Nikon says, it “can fit comfortably in a pocket”) but with a number of features that you would expect to see in a bigger camera.
The COOLPIX S9700 comes equipped with a built-in 30x optical zoom lens (25-750mm, 35mm equivalent) as well as vibration reduction to help you get sharp images even at the high end of the zoom range. ) Images can be previewed via a 3-inch 921k dot OLED display on the back of the camera. The built in Wi-Fi functionality makes sharing photos easy and even allows you to use your Smartphone or tablet to remotely control the camera. The S9700 is GPS enabled, making this a camera that is ideal for travel photography since it records the exact location of where your photos were taken.
The S9700 also comes with some advanced shooting features, including a full array of available shooting and autofocus modes. And it is capable of recording full HD 1080p videos with stereo sound.
The COOLPIX P340 is another slim, pocket-sized compact camera.
The lens on this camera is an ultra-fast f/1.8 5x optical zoom, making the P340 especially useful in low light and high action situations. In addition to this, the P340 can shoot an impressive 10 shots per second, again making it a great unit for capturing quick movements. And as with the other new COOLPIX models, the P340 comes with vibration reduction, on-board Wi-Fi and a high resolution 921k dot 3-inch LCD.
The P340 has some great advanced shooting features, including the ability for full manual control of shooting, exposure and focus modes. And, unlike the other three new COOLPIX’s, the P340 allows for RAW (NRW) image capture.
