Adobe released a new update to Lightroom Classic CC a few days back. And I’m happy to say that it’s a big improvement, both in performance and features.
The latest Lightroom Classic CC Update–version 7.2–includes some important and much-needed performance enhancements. The update improves the way CPU and memory are used. The results of these improvements include:
- Faster imports
- Faster previews
- Faster movement between images
- Faster adjustments in the Develop Mode
- Faster exports
In addition to improving performance, version 7.2 includes some new features. Here are a few:
This new feature lets you use a simple text search to locate a specific folder.
Filter for Favorites Folders
The new Lightroom Classic CC version lets you mark folders as ‘Favorites’ and then filter to find those Favorite folders.
To mark a folder as a Favorite, right click and select Mark Favorite from the pop-up. After marked as a Favorite, the folder will show with a star icon.
After that, you can filter on Favorites by clicking on the down-facing arrow next to the Q in the search bar. A drop down will appear where you can select Favorite Folders:
Quickly Create a Collection from a Folder
You can now quickly create a Collection from the images within a folder. Having the images in a Collection allows you to sync them with Lightroom Mobile.
To create a Collection from a Folder, right-click on the folder and choose Create Collection Set from the pop-out menu:
Quickly Create a Collection from a Pin in the Map Module
You can quickly create a Collection from the photos taken at a single location by going into the Map Module and right-clicking on any pin or group of pins. Then select Create Collection from the pop-out menu.
