You can use compositing techniques to swap out a distracting background on an image, to place a subject somewhere they’ve never been or to create a work of the imagination.
Compositing is a fun technique to learn. It requires some technical skill, but the process can also bring out the artist in you, with Photoshop’s Layers as your canvas.
If you would like to learn about compositing in Photoshop, the video below–by one of my very favorites, Gavin Hoey–is for you. In it, Gavin walks you through the process of compositing, step-by-step, giving all sorts of cool, inside tricks and tips along the way.
I think you’ll enjoy it.
