The fundamentals of photography have their roots in classical art.
Even with all of the advances in technology, the basic ideas of photographic composition and lighting that we use today are the same as those employed by the Old Masters centuries ago.
In the video below, created for a B&H Photo Event, Adam Marelli approaches photography from a classical art perspective. Here, Mr. Marelli shows us how to translate the elements of geometric design seen in masterpieces of painted art to our everyday photography.
But, really, my description doesn’t do the video justice. Mr. Marelli’s lecture is fantastic . He brings a unique and intriguing insight to the conversation, allowing us to take in a view of photography from the perspective of someone trained in the classical arts. I can’t recommend it enough.
